About This Website
This the personal website of poet and storyteller Ryan Lee King. My website address is:

Personal Data Collected
I only collect personal data where you choose to interact with me on the website in the following ways: when you sign up to receive free content, when you purchase a book directly from me (not yet available), when you win a prize from me, or when you choose to contact me directly.

Types of personal data collected include email address, first name, last name, mailing address, and payment method choice (payment details are held by our payment processor, not me.).

Data Automatically Collected
My website automatically collects certain information when you visit my website. This information is not linked with any Personal Data. The following sections detail what data is collected and how long that data is retained.

My website uses Akismet, an anti-spam service, to help identify and reduce spam. When visitors leave comments on my site I collect the commenter’s IP address, user agent, referrer, and Site URL (along with other information directly provided by the commenter such as their name, username, email address, and the comment itself).

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

If you upload images to my website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

If you leave a comment on my site, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit my login page, the website will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, the website will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

Embedded content from other websites
Pages on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

My website uses Stats. It collects: IP address, user ID (if logged in), username (if logged in), user agent, visiting URL, referring URL, timestamp of event, browser language, country code. This feature also tracks page views, outbound link clicks and search engine terms, as well as the performance of each page load.

NOTE: I do not have access to any of this information via this feature. For example, I can see that a specific page has 285 views, but I cannot see which specific users/accounts viewed that post. Stats logs — containing visitor IP addresses and usernames (if available) — are retained by Automattic for 28 days and are used for the sole purpose of powering this feature.

My website uses Google Analytics. Please refer to the appropriate Google Analytics documentation for the specific type of data it collects. If you would like to opt out of Google Analytics, please visit

Do Not Track
Do Not Track is a preference you can set on your browser to inform websites that you do not want to be tracked. You can either enable or disable Do Not Track by visiting the Preferences or Settings page of your browser. My website does not currently support Do Not Track (DNT).

How Long I Retain Your Data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so I can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on my website (if any), I also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What Rights You Have Over Your Data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data I hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that I erase any personal data I hold about you. This does not include any data I’m obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
