Rhyme (#36)

I believe my poetry should rhyme,
But I hear complaints all the time,
Just why is that such a crime?

Rhyme doesn’t cheapen its worth,
It doesn’t affect its meaning or girth,
In fact, poetry is rhymed across this Earth!

I’m sure they feel their literary feedback is worthwhile,
But I don’t understand why they’re so hostile,
They’ll just have to accept my poetic style,

Their criticisms I don’t want or need,
So those who don’t like my rhyme take heed,
If it’s something you don’t like, don’t read!

I don’t write poetry for others, I write for me,
I write it to set my soul free,
And that’s the way my poetry will always be.

Any Thoughts?
