Cops (#848)

Before moving to the city, I never saw a cop walk a beat,
Here they walk the parking lot and hit the street,
They help security at local shopping malls,
When not running ragged answering their own calls,
They visit schools to educate about drugs,
All the while they’ve been apprehending thieves and thugs,
Here they patrol the busy airport,
And provide funeral escort,
At busy intersections, they stand ready to direct,
They take to heart the phrase “to serve and protect,”
Here they enforce the federal and state penal code,
Here they traverse and maintain order on the road,
Here they’re always making their rounds,
Guess I never noticed them in smaller towns.

Any Thoughts?
