Bath Time Casualty (#1189)

They fuss and hit the hamper,
My book plummets into the tub,
Sploosh!

Their eyes grow large,
Hands dive in after it,
Whoosh!

I’m being called,
I’m told the news.
Steam.

I pick up the book,
I look at the damage,
Green.

Water pours from pages,
Prognosis: It’s ruined,
Upset.

I walk away in silence,
My mood like my book,
Wet.
