Poem #20

Sacred Space

My own little space to get away,
To get away from the everyday,
A place to breathe a sigh of relief,
Be it for hours or only brief,
A place to call my own,
To get away from people, email and the phone,
A place to express my thoughts and bury my head,
A refuge no matter the length of my stead,
A place to hide even if in plain sight,
From every worry, fear and plight,
A place where I know I’m safe and sound,
Somewhere where the world can’t hound,
A place where the one thing I know is peace,
That provides solitude and much-needed release,
A place where I can let it all out,
That’s what a sanctuary is all about.
