Poem #1645

Massive Layoff

Grab something strong and prepare to quaff,
My job just announced a massive layoff,
I survived the heart-rending initial cut,
But there are more employees they need to gut,
This time feels different than those before,
The magnitude of the cuts is hardcore,
The numbers aren’t shared, but we’ve done the math,
This layoff is more akin to a bloodbath,
They asked if I wanted to volunteer to go,
You better believe that I said, “Hell no!”
At this point, it’s a game of wait and see,
By the end of the month will I still be an employee?
