Poem #4

Afternoon Rain

It just rained there on the quiet road,
Smells of wet grass after it’s been mowed,
The feel of cooled asphalt under my toes,
Garden’s red tulips like damp soldiers in rows,
Weighted down dandelions wanting to sway,
Wet leaves stick to the deck where ever they may,
Gloomy clouds bend down to hug the world,
The driveway puddle is rippled and swirled,
The gentle after-storm breeze softly sings,
The blackbirds return to fluff their wings,
The grate nearby roars like the raging river,
The sun peaks through the clouds but only a sliver,
These are the days that calm the conflicted soul,
These are the days we need to make us whole,

Poem #3

ADD

Disjointed words and thought,
It seems my brain is tied in a knot,
Ideas go in every direction,
None of which a coherent collection,
My head is filled with wandering narration,
Why is it so hard to regain concentration?
It all lacks cohesion and order,
Thanks, Attention Deficit Disorder!

Poem #2

Waves Against the Ocean

Our lives, our world, rotate in chaotic motion,
This our play, these waves against the ocean,
A ship thrust forward by the salty sea air,
Upon the sea of depression and despair,
Upon the sea of hate and ire,
Upon the sea of ecstasy and desire,
Upon the sea of love and passion,
Upon the sea of concern and compassion,
Upon the sea of jealousy and greed,
Avoiding sandbars and dunes of grass and reed,
Our lives, our world, rotate in chaotic motion,
This our play, these waves against the ocean.
