Sequoiya 2 (#11)

Dawn against the shoulder,
Light rays touch tree and boulder,
His shadow walks before him,
His destiny is his wish and whim,
Nothing can hold him nor pain,
Honor and truth could never be feign,
Defender, protector, scholar of all,
Against the odds, he will not fall.

Poetry

Sequoiya (#10)

From out of the drifting snow,
A creature of white steps out,

Paws of mighty steel trample,
Ageless eyes glow in vengeance,

Jaws snapping and snarling,
Muscles bunch, ready to jump,

Lips curl and deadly teeth bare,
It is a white wolf- ready to kill,

Focus (#9)

It feels good when I get into the groove,
When the world is still and only I move,
That kind of focus is so serene,
Where only on what I focus can be seen,
It’s almost hyper-focus if you will,
It’s got quite the interesting feel,
Whatever task I’m facing,
Has no chance when the blood’s racing,
Whatever gets thrown at me, beware,
Into the meat and bone of it, I’ll tear,
With having ADD, my attention is only fair,
So, focus like this is extremely rare,
My attention is normally stripped to the bone,
So, it’s nice to occasionally get in the zone,
So, when my attention is long gone and done,
How I wish it were something I could call upon,

Night Magic (#8)

Shooting stars are falling,
Midnight feelings are calling,
The cloak of night is revealing,
That one special feeling,
Beyond the echoes of night, my heart,
Pushed by the endless celestial art,
I seem to stand there,
The wind brushing my hair,

Shooting stars are falling,
Midnight feelings are calling,
The cloak of night is revealing,
That one special feeling,
Held spellbound in the night,
When I first to glance at your sight,
Heaven came down before me,
In that sight, I saw and still see,

Shooting stars are falling,
Midnight feelings are calling,
The cloak of night is revealing,
That one special feeling,
Time stood silently still,
Grasses waved upon the hill,
Night whispered your name,
How could life ever be the same?

Shooting stars are falling,
Midnight feelings are calling,
The cloak of night is revealing,
That one special feeling,
From glances to the touch,
My heart went to your clutch,
Starlight follows where you’ve stepped,
My loneliness tearfully wept,

Shooting stars are falling,
Midnight feelings are calling,
The cloak of night is revealing,
That one special feeling,
Magic was living in the air,
Love was there for me to share,
To not understand but hands held out,
Embracing love and all it was about,

Shooting stars are falling,
Midnight feelings are calling,
The cloak of night is revealing,
That one special feeling,

Poetry

Asteroids (#7)

Alone.
In the dark night.
Spinning forever round.
Without life, purpose or meaning.
A rock.

Poetry

Abstract Thought (#6)

Swirls of gray matter,
Shards shatter,
Pieces scatter,
Drops splatter,

Starfield of light,
Streaks excite,
Flickers delight,
Ideas ignite,

Orchestra of sound,
Heartbeats pound,
Whispers surround,
Echoes abound,

Caught,
In abstract thought.

Blackbeard’s Ghost (#5)

A wet sheet and a flowing sea,
Above the mast, the flag whips proud and free,
Pirates scream, laugh, dance and holler,
For the adventure of gold, power and the dollar,
Pirates’ life- money, lust, and warring,
Swashbuckling, swords, and cannonballs roaring,
The life, so carefree and without complaint,
Bold and extravagant but not for the faint,
Life over water and the salty sea air,
Like Edward Teach with firecrackers in his hair,
Life to the fullest by the sword and by the gun,
A pirates’ life- not all games or fun,
Those ghost pirates still ride the waves,
Still having adventures, laughs, and their raves.

Poetry

Afternoon Rain (#4)

It just rained there on the quiet road,
Smells of wet grass after it’s been mowed,
The feel of cooled asphalt under my toes,
Garden’s red tulips like damp soldiers in rows,
Weighted down dandelions wanting to sway,
Wet leaves stick to the deck wherever they may,
Gloomy clouds bend down to hug the world,
The driveway puddle is rippled and swirled,
The gentle after-storm breeze softly sings,
The blackbirds return to fluff their wings,
The grate nearby roars like the raging river,
The sun peaks through the clouds but only a sliver,
These are the days that calm the conflicted soul,
These are the days we need to make us whole,

Poetry

ADD (#3)

Disjointed words and thought,
It seems my brain is tied in a knot,
Ideas go in every direction,
None of which a coherent collection,
My head is filled with wandering narration,
Why is it so hard to regain concentration?
It all lacks cohesion and order,
Thanks, Attention Deficit Disorder!

Waves Against the Ocean (#2)

Our lives, our world, rotate in chaotic motion,
This our play, these waves against the ocean,
A ship thrust forward by the salty sea air,
Upon the sea of depression and despair,
Upon the sea of hate and ire,
Upon the sea of ecstasy and desire,
Upon the sea of love and passion,
Upon the sea of concern and compassion,
Upon the sea of jealousy and greed,
Avoiding sandbars and dunes of grass and reed,
Our lives, our world, rotate in chaotic motion,
This our play, these waves against the ocean.
