Music: Ocean waves and seagulls
Location: Hotel Room
Before heading out today, I took a moment to build this little guy. I figured it was fitting considering where we were going. I think the pelican is adorable and I love the fact it can hold a fish inside its beak.
The trip itself went fairly smoothly. We left a bit later than I wanted, but we always do. My wife and son never get out of the house on time. That’s just the way things are. I was never one to enjoy traveling the open road. But getting to see this view made up for today’s time spent driving on it.
The Guy Harvey Resort hasn’t impressed me so far. I booked online using booking.com which said I was getting an ocean front room, but when we got there, we learned it was actually for a partial ocean front room. They were nice enough to double check for me and confirmed that our rate was indeed for the partial ocean front rather than what the website had said. We were disappointed, but there wasn’t much we could do. After unloading the car, we found out the elevator was out of service, so we had to schlep everything a bit further than anticipated. Meh.
Since the trip took all day, there wasn’t a lot of time to enjoy the beach. Instead, we headed out to pick up some odds and ends we forgot to grab and had dinner at Hurricane Patty’s at the marina. Pretty tasty.
The island feels more like a college beach town than any kind of barrier island. It doesn’t have that island feel that I’m used to getting, at least not so far. Time will tell. Oh, and the strangest thing of all? They let vehicles out on the beach! That’s just weird to me.
