My cat is 15 years old and over the last couple of years has developed a full-blown case of IBS. We have to take him to the vet once a month to get a shot to help with the inflammation. This past month, we noticed he lost some weight and the same this month. The vet decided to do more bloodwork, and we found out yesterday that he has a small infection that’s related to his IBS and on a scarier front, he’s in the initial stages of renal failure.
Visions of the worst rushed into my mind, but the vet said that we can turn things around if we act now. She can’t cure the kidney problems, but we can manage them and bring them back into working order, allowing him to live a couple more years. The vet indicated that if we act now, we can take care of the infection and the kidneys, as well as can get the weight back on him. Of course, we’d act now! We’ve started his new meds and new food. Hopefully, we can turn things around as the vet said. I’m not ready for him to leave yet. I know my son isn’t.
It’s rainy outside. The big hail storms that blew through Texas and brought tornadoes to Mississippi have arrived. The thunder kept waking me up last night. So far there’s only been thunder, lightning and lots of rain. I have my fingers crossed that we don’t get anything more than that from it. Hopefully, my front yard won’t wash away!
I’ve posted the PDF files for my 1997-2002 poetry journals on my writing page. I’ll likely post two more this weekend, but that’ll be it for a while. The remaining poetry journals are still under contract with KDP Select. I should be able to post a large chunk of them the firsts week of May, but time will tell. In the meantime, I need to finish the short story.
My wife will be mostly absent over the next couple of days because she’s helping out at a local convention. That means I need to take care of the house and the fur baby while she’s away. Things have been piling up around here, so that means I get to be the lucky one to clean. I wonder if she did that on purpose? Hehe. I wouldn’t put it past her. Ah, such fun awaits. Now if I can just get through 5pm, I’ll be good to go. I think I need to go make some sweet tea. Where there’s tea, there’s a way!
