Music: The Dresden Dolls – “Girl Anachronism”
Location: Starbucks (Brookhaven)
Ever had one of those nights where your mind wouldn’t shut off? That was me last night. The sleep I did get was filled with weird dreams, but I pretty much woke up every hour or so. Not very restful.
Outside this morning it felt like fall. The air was a cool 45 degrees. The pre-dawn light was filtering through the trees, and the birds sang their songs. All it was missing was the smell of wood smoke to make it complete. Still, it was more than enough to make me pause and smile.
Managed to get away to Starbucks for lunch since one of my meetings got canceled. It allowed me to do the unthinkable these days, start a short story. It’s a slow go but I eked out just over a page before I had to head back to work. Not a bad start, I guess. Does that mean I’m a writer again?
Oh, and you know the new Starbucks lid they gave me the other day? Yeah, I haven’t seen it since. Not sure why. It’s not been at the same Starbucks, nor any of the others I’ve stopped at recently. Was it a limited trial? Well, for the time being, I’m back to straw-ville, but my inner kid hopes they bring back the sippy lid.
