Now what? Historically speaking, journaling and I have had a rocky relationship at best. I’ve been able to keep a poetry journal in various forms since I was in middle school but an actual journal? Nope. There have only been two times in my life where journaling and I got along.
The first was back in ninth grade where we were required to keep one. I kept it going the next year but ultimately embraced the poetry journal instead. The other time was in college, right after LiveJournal came out. My friends and I had a blast making new friends there and filling cyberspace with all the word vomit it could handle.
It was something I truly enjoyed (unlike blogging), but like all things, it eventually came to an end. That’s not to say I haven’t tried to journal since then, but all attempts failed miserably. And yet, here I begin again. That hints at insanity, doesn’t it? Who knows! But I have to admit the idea of online journaling appeals to me and seeing my first post reminiscent of my old LiveJournal days makes me smile.
I’m sure WordPress, and my website my extension, doesn’t have a community as LiveJournal had but that’s okay. It’s as much a new journal as it is a new website and a whole new world. I’ll embrace whatever it turns out to be.
